A friend told me he spent a lot of time learning AI tools, from prompt engineering to comparing various frameworks, taking over ten thousand words of notes. Looking back, his work output had barely changed.
“I feel like I learned everything, yet learned nothing at all.” This sentence made me think for a long time, because I was reflecting on the same question.
This isn’t just his problem. In my process of promoting AI adoption in manufacturing, I’ve seen similar situations—teams learn new tools, but those who can truly transform what they’ve learned into output are always the minority. The problem isn’t insufficient effort, but the lack of an underlying growth structure.
Knowing More Doesn’t Equal Learning Better
We’re standing at a historical turning point. In the past, becoming an expert in a field relied on long-term professional accumulation, information monopoly, and experience sedimentation. But today, information is no longer scarce, methods are no longer mysterious, knowledge is almost within reach. ChatGPT or Gemini can give you a complete learning plan in thirty seconds, but have our capabilities truly improved three months later?
What creates the gap isn’t who knows more, but who possesses a continuously evolving capability structure. Such people are today’s “super learners”—not those with exceptional memory or particularly high skills, but those who possess a growth operating system capable of continuous self-iteration. This is what I heard in episode 38 of “Long Talk” by Tuobula on the Dedao App, titled “Welcome to the World of Super Learners.” This system has six modules. Not linear steps, but a continuously cycling structure.
Motivational Structure: What Are You Willing to Pay the Cost For?
Learning isn’t sustained by willpower alone. Truly long-term effective motivation comes from the intersection of three dimensions: liking, competence, and purpose. When you truly like something, you’re willing to pay the cost for it; when you gradually build competence, positive feedback propels you forward; when it aligns with your long-term direction, you won’t give up easily.
The biggest misconception in the AI era is excessively chasing tools due to anxiety. Rushing to learn prompts, compare models, apply frameworks, without asking yourself fundamental questions: What am I truly willing to invest time in? Where can I build competence? What long-term strategy do these efforts point toward?
When this motivational triangle is established, the costs we pay are no longer consumption, but investment.
Asking Questions Is Productivity
In the AI era, knowing how to ask questions equals having an unlimited advisory team. Ask poorly, and AI gives you generic platitudes; ask precisely, and it can help you quickly approach the essence.
I’ve had deep experiences in tool development and project processes. Similarly asking AI to design a project’s data architecture initially yielded textbook-level generic answers. Later I refined it more precisely, adding current workflow conditions and problems—this time the response directly saved me a lot of trial-and-error time.
High-quality questions usually contain four elements: specific problem, clear scenario, efforts you’ve already made, and current results. Such questions aren’t just requesting answers, but demonstrating thinking.
Mature learners don’t ask “what should I do,” but first create a version, then ask: “Where am I wrong?” They even follow up with: “What do you think I did well?” The former helps you correct mistakes, the latter helps you build an advantage framework. Over time, you gradually understand where your true strengths lie.
Opportunities Are a Probability Game, Taking Responsibility Is the Entry Ticket
Many people think opportunities are the result of being chosen. But the most important lesson I learned on my entrepreneurial journey is: opportunities are more often the product of active pursuit. Even when rejected, continue exploring. Because opportunities are a probability game—if you don’t participate, the probability is zero.
More crucial than opportunities is “taking responsibility.” I mentioned this in my Super Individual practice—when problems land in your hands, you choose to take responsibility rather than leave, and the entire system (heaven) remembers you. You thereby understand processes, upstream and downstream relationships, and real risk structures. Over time, you’re no longer just an executor, but part of the system, with cross-domain understanding.
People who proactively take responsibility seem to work hard, but are also the most reliable. Organizational trust is built this way, bit by bit. Meanwhile, mature workers build redundancy for themselves—having time for early warnings and preparing multiple solution sets. AI can help us quickly generate alternative solutions, but decision-making and judgment still belong to us. True maturity is always leaving room in important scenarios.
Transfer and Reproduction: Bridges from Known to Unknown
Growth isn’t going from not knowing to knowing, but transferring from known domains to unknown domains. Without a known starting point, learning is very inefficient.
I often “distill” methods from domain A and apply them to domain B. For example, the “material flow analysis” method I learned in circular economy was later used to analyze traffic paths in content creation—where materials come from, where losses occur in which stages, what value they ultimately convert to. The underlying logic is similar, only the carriers differ.
The AI era has another trap: understanding has become too easy, and generation too easy. Ask AI to write code, it seems completely reasonable, and you think you understand. True understanding isn’t comprehension, but the ability to reproduce. If you can’t reproduce it, you haven’t truly mastered it. This point is more important now than in any era—because the illusion of “feeling like I understand” has never been so easy to generate.
More Than Social Performance
People in public settings easily enter a “performer state”—constantly evaluating their performance, worried about saying the wrong thing, worried about not being perfect enough.
In early presentations and writing, I always thought about how to package things attractively, how to speak with depth. Later a senior colleague told me: “What you’re saying is good, but you don’t seem like you’re talking to me—you seem like you’re performing.”
That sentence woke me up. Natural expressers return to the content itself. Words flow from the heart, not squeezed out from techniques and frameworks—being someone who genuinely wants to talk to the other person. AI can help you polish drafts, organize structure, optimize sentences, but what’s truly powerful is whether you truly understand and believe what you’re saying. Not clinging to form, not obsessing over perfection—expression naturally becomes natural.
Structure Determines the Ceiling
These six modules—motivational structure, questioning ability, proactive action, transfer thinking, reproduction capability, natural expression—aren’t a list of techniques, but a continuously cycling growth operating system. First use the motivational triangle to choose direction; use high-quality questions to collaborate with AI; take responsibility in reality; transfer existing capabilities to new scenarios; practice repeatedly until internalized; then naturally output and express. This is a path from learner to creator.
AI is a magnifying glass. It amplifies your clarity, but also amplifies your chaos. What truly determines the ceiling has never been the tools themselves, but our internal structure—your thinking depth, questioning ability, value prioritization, and degree of responsibility when facing accountability.
Being able to ask good questions, daring to take responsibility for results, not wasting energy on self-entanglement, and not performing for the sake of presence—these capabilities are the foundation for continuous evolution in a rapidly changing world. As computer-based tasks become increasingly cheap, what’s truly scarce is the ability to step away from screens, enter real domains, and solve real problems.
Deploying knowledge gained from AI into the world, transforming wisdom into influence—this is the “centaur mode” super individual.
